Commemoration of165th birth anniversary of Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore

The Consul General of India in Scotland, Mr Siddharth Malik, with support from the Scottish Centre of Tagore Studies (ScoTs) and SABASH (Scottish Association of Bengali Arts and Sanskritik Heritage’ celebrated the 165th birthday of Rabindranath Tagore on 7 May 2026. It was organised at Sandeman Garden, Edinburgh with a beautiful floral tribute to Rabindranath Tagore, while it also commemorated Tagore’s friendship with his close friend, Patrick Geddes. The ceremony was accompanied by a cultural programme that was both moving and memorable

 

 

Consulate General of India in Edinburgh, Scottish Association of Bengali Arts and Sanskritik Heritage (SABASH) and Scottish Centre of Tagore Studies (ScoTS) extend a warm invitation to you to attend the commemoration of the 165th birth anniversary of Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore, the first Asian Nobel Laureate in Literature (1913), poet, philosopher, and a global cultural icon whose ideas continue to inspire dialogue between India and Scotland.

The event will be held on Thursday, 7 May 2026 at 4:00 PM at Sandeman Garden (behind the Scottish Storytelling Centre, Royal Mile, Edinburgh, EH1 1SR).
