Abanindranath was Rabindranath’s nephew and an artist and writer of children’s books. Abanindranath was born at Jorasanko in Kolkata on 7 August 1871 to his father Gunendranath Tagore. He went to Normal School from 1876, then went on to Sanskrit College until 1889. In this year, he married Suhasini Devi (daughter of Bhujagendra Bhusan Chatterjee, a descendant of Prasanna Coomar Tagore). Read more
Gaganendranath was Rabindranath’s cousin once removed, and the brother of artist Abanindranath. He was one of the earliest modern Indian painters and caricaturist. Gaganendranath Tagore was born at Jorasanko, Kolkata on 18 September 1867. He was the eldest son of Gunendranath Tagore, grandson of Girindranath Tagore and a great-grandson of Prince Dwarkanath Tagore. Read more
Indira Devi, daughter of Satyendranath Tagore and niece of Rabindranath Tagore, was a singer, writer, translator and activist. Indira Devi, popularly known as Bibidi, was born to Satyendranath Tagore and Jnanandanandinidevi on 29 December 1873 at Bijapur in South India, where her father worked at the time. Read more
