Dr. Rituparna Chakraborty is Assistant Professor and Head, Department of English, Swami Vivekananda University. She received her M.Phil. from Rabindra Bharati University and Ph.D. from Raiganj University. Dr. Chakraborty’s research interests include postcolonial studies and gender studies. Dr Payel Chattopadhyay Mukherjee works on the ideas/problems of how one sees the nation, concept of a nation, and theoretical ideas on nationalism. Her focus areas of research are postcolonial theories through particular histories of colonial empire in India and literary works, Intellectual debates among early 20th century Indian thinkers, Rabindranath Tagore, South Asian Studies. Dr. Suparna Banerjee

Research Affiliate: Dr. Suparna Banerjee

Dr. Banerjee is an academic and a writer based in Bengal, India. She has an M.A in English from the University of Burdwan, where she graduated with a First in the First Class. Her Ph.D–on the dialectic of science and gender in the speculative fiction of Mary Shelley and Margaret Atwood–was earned in 2009 from the IIT Bombay, a top-tier institute in India. Read more

Unveiling the Plaque to Anapurna Turkhud Littledale, Rabindranath Tagore’s ‘Nalini’ on Ana’s 132nd Death Anniversary, 2 July 2023

This is an account of the life of Anapurna Turkhud Littledale who was a special presence in the life of Rabindranath Tagore, whom he called ‘Nalini’.  Historical research and investigations with The Scottish Centre of Tagore Studies led to identifying where her body, and the body of her Denzil her child, came to their final resting places in Morningside Cemetery in Edinburgh, Scotland. The following is a recording of a memorial ceremony and unveiling of a plaque to commemorate her life and the life of her child Denzil. Read more
